Probably something on your end. I didn't get a demand for registration when I checked.

Turn 32 sent.

The problem with massed thunder strikes (my plan B) is that Ahriman Anakites have 53 HP, and these regenerate. Thunder Strikes do a base of 26. Even 2 direct hits aren't a guaranteed takedown.

Yeh, I ran some sims with all the magic types my mages could muster and didn't find Thunderstrikes to be terribly effective. Thunderstrike doesn't have great precision, even when aiming at giants. You need to use a stupidly large number of Air Mages to even it up against even a small force because if you don't he'll have healed by the time a second strike hits.

Which is the reason I didn't join the mass assault on Ashod. I wanted to have an anti-Ashod Blessed Giants tactic in place before he realized how powerful he was.

Luckily, I have several now. Should be interesting to see how far he pushes you guys back.

I don't really advocate thunderstrikes for the sacreds, I was talking about them if he started fielding SCs alone after a counter to the sacred giants was deployed and he started losing them. Aimed/Windguided/Eyes of Aiminged thunderstrikes should have been reasonably good if you had like 10 mages throwing them and he had a guy or two.

Since I have seen A: sacred supermen, B: moderately geared sacred SCs, and C: Some evocation from Ashdod I was addressing only point B in isolation. Though to get that, you would need some sacred giant counter.

Were thunderstrikes viable at 10:1 odds K?

I tested 5 casters in a Communion with four slaves against 5 Blessed giants and a Commander and saw no results.

So more than that, I think.

I mean, ten casters with Evocations can demolish thousand troop armies, so needing them for five guys counts as "crapload" in my mind.

Sorry for the slight delay in getting the turn out, I've been busier than I thought recently. I'm going to be on a trip to check out a very interesting petroglyph canyon over the next 4-5 days, and my access to the Internet will be limited. Should be able to check up on the game on Saturday at least. Finals week follows, but I can probably make some time for the game in my breaks, so that ought not to be too great an impediment.

Turn 33:
http://www.mediafire.com/?bfjihor82e8sasf

I just recruited a group of chariots. Allegedly, they are pretty lame, but I've always been kind of curious about them and fighting large groups of individually weak infantry might be a decent use. They've got spears if I remember right, so that might compensate for fighting enemies with 2 short-ranged claws each.

Besides, I can line them up and refer the formation as the PAIN TRAIN. Perhaps with one of my astral mages in back solely because the robe is blue, enhancing the reference.

Thanks to everyone for your gem contributions, this is going to make trying out some ideas I had much easier. To the one that came with a request attached, I got it, I'll try to fill your order as soon as I kit out 2 thugs with a bit more gear.

Oh, and sorry, other guy, I forgot to mail 2 items I promised to sell you. I'll try and make a note to ship them this turn.

-----------------------------------

By the way, Frank, I was looking over some of my recent posts and I realized the way I've been playing might be annoying. I'd like to apologize if you've found my way of playing Arco abrasive. If you'd prefer that I approach things differently, I would be willing to make some shifts in my thinking. I'm having fun, but that's no reason to sabotage other people's enjoyment if I can avoid it.

One province and one castle, and then I've finally purged Ryleh from Ermor.

Of course I can practically taste the raiding forces he's building up, but I've figured out how to beat them now.

IIRC, arco's MA chariots have 2 spears and no ambidexterity (probably a bug, as they're supposed to be wielded by 2 different guys on the chariot), so they miss a lot. Their trample attack still works, but about 5? effective attack skill sucks big time.

Elephants would be a better plan, even though they aren't the unstoppable monsters of LA arco.

I need so many more gems it's not even funny.

By the way, I lost my death mage in Pangaea's attack, and I don't feel inclined to recruit a new one until I stabilize my military situation. I have a little over 20 Death gems I can't use for anything right now other than emergency Astral gems. Could anybody else use them?

Turn 33 in.

Apparently, my fat-ass of a god has decided he prefers napping instead of this "Ascension BS."

He's probably just busy Kratosing his way out. It really takes it out of a god.

I, too, could use more Death gems.

Anyone willing to sell me an astral booster? I am not concerned if it is a hat, or a coin.

Turn Re-sent. Had to adjust my research because I'm getting that thing I said I was going to get this turn and I'll be able to make that other thing next turn.

Turn sent.

Man, I could get used to this researching new surprises between each major battle thing.

EDIT: Since it's been a minor issue in the past, I want to make clear that I don't consider deals to have been agreed on until one side sends a message that agrees to terms the other side proposed in the last message, so if I send a message like, "I could pay in nature gems instead," I won't actually send the nature gems that turn unless I get a response saying, "that sounds good, send them". So far, it's only been a minor issue, but it's led to me being late on my end at least once.

I have downloaded the Dom3 Db hosted on the forums. Now I can FINALLY figure out how much protection units have without having to open up a game and build them.

I have no idea what you can do to piss me off in that fortress battle? Gateway?

I've just closed the security holes in my PD network, so we're ready to ROXOR.
